Willie Jack & the Northern Light
March 15 @ 9:00 pm
Which one of you guys is Willie Jack?”
Well, that’s a long story, but Willie Jack and the Northern Light has been playing it’s own style of music for over 15 years to festivals, clubs, and gatherings throughout Pennsylvania and beyond. Drawing heavily from a multitude of influences and styles, yet flavored with their own sense of original expression, their genre has been labeled Jam, Experimental and Funk Jazz.
No stranger to the festival scene, Willie Jack and the Northern Light has appeared at Bears Picnic every year since the Central PA festival’s inception, opening for the likes of New Riders of the Purple Sage, Dark Star Orchestra and Splintered Sunlight. Other noted appearances have included the NY State Harvest Festival, the PA State Greenway Conference, Gasstock, LibertyFest, Trails End HarvestFest, Jam Along the Creek, Peace of MindFest The Dam Show, Kind Roots Festival, and S.H.A.R.E Fest and Willies Midnight Crazy Train Campout. Having released their debut album, “Where You Want To Be,” in July 2012, Willie Jack & the Northern Light continues their tradition of delivering the goods to the fans…
, Jeff Oshetski fronts the band on lead guitar and vocals. Jeff has shared the stage with the New Riders,as well as members Ratdog and opened for many national acts. He also handles most of the writing, and arranging.
Joe Raup formed the band with Oshetski and plays rhythm guitar and adds clear vocal harmonies and sweet rhythm accents. Joe also shares most of the songwriting duties with Jeff. He also handles management and booking duties.
Currently handling bass for the band is accomplished musician Josh Klein. Josh also performs solo as The Hairy Dudini.
Joe Ciarvella, the bands drummer and Producer, also comes from a gifted musical legacy. . Joe recorded, mixed and produced the bands debut album in Willie Jacks private project studio, Peach Mountain Records. Joe toured the country with many note worthy bands including International JamBand pioneers, The Zen Tricksters. Joe also has played with many former Grateful Dead members and their extended family of bands…i.e. (Members of Phil and Friends, Ratdog, JGB, NRPS)
On saxophone and keys is Cody Zahoroiko. Cody is a multi instrumentalist and handles saxophone and keyboards. His playing has brought a jazz sensibility to the band and added power to the funk. We’ re very fortunate to tap his talent.
We are happy to have our most recent member, Mark Sosnoskie. Mark studied trumpet, and plays bass as well. Mark has been in national touring acts, and has shared the stage with some big names to likes of Bob Weir..You may have seen him in The American Babies
Whether laying down funk, playing Dead, or jamming electric jazz and going into experimental realms Willie Jack and the Northern Light always delivers a fine show. One love!
