Although cream ale descended from American lager, several factors distinguish PA Cream Ale including higher malt and hop levels and faint fruity esters on the palate. The faint fruity flavor is achieved by using a warmer lager fermentation temperature and the creaminess comes from the use of 14% flaked yellow corn.
